Geared clocks are handy tools to teach children how to read the time. The clock has gears to ensure the minute hand and the hour hand move in sync to help children to better understand how clocks work and to prevent confusion. To help children grasp the connection between hours and minutes, these geared clocks show both the hour and the minute, e.g. at the 1-hour position there is also a small number 5 to represent the minutes. This enables children to see that there are 60 minutes in 1 hour. Geared clocks can be used for calculating time.
