Cotton reels can be used as beads for lacing and threading to develop skills and abilities necessary for reading, writing and mathematics. For example fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, bilateral integration, concentration as well as logical and creative thinking. Unlike most beads, cotton reels are big enough that children 18 months old can play with them. You can also use cotton reels for basic math activities like colour sorting, patterning, sequencing, counting and calculations. Children can use cotton reels as building blocks for towers or lace them together to make objects like snakes and necklaces.
