Base ten sets help children to grasp the relationship between units, tens, hundreds and thousands e.g. 10 units = 1 ten, 10 tens = 1 hundred and 10 hundreds = 1 thousand. The pieces interlock with one another to make it easier for kids to put them on top of one another and to prevent the pieces from moving around. The interlocking pieces are also transparent to provide a 2D and 3D "see-through" understanding of the mentioned relationships. Base ten sets help learn numerical, equivalent and place values, e.g. concretely shows children that 427 is 4 hundreds, 2 tens and 7 units. Base ten sets can also be used for concrete grouping, basic calculations, measurement and fractions.
