Children need to learn the correct pencil grip even before letter formation. Incorrect pencil grip will impact the amount of control a child has or doesn’t have over their pencil. The role of a good pencil grip is to provide the perfect balance between stability and mobility. When a child does not naturally form a comfortable/acceptable pencil grip they often need to focus on the pencil grip rather than on their letter formation.
