This Spin & Spell set contains 1x vowel spinner, 4x word cards, and 2x whiteboard markers. On each word card are 8 pictures with their names written next to them. The vowels in the names have been removed, e.g., next to a picture of a cat, you will see “c_t”.</o:p>

How to use Spin & Spell when you are playing on your own:</o:p>

1. Spin the spinning wheel. The vowel the arrow lands on is to be used. Let’s say it lands on “o”. Say “o” out loud.</o:p>
2. Look at your word card. Next to the picture of a cat you see “c_t”. Say “cot”. </o:p>
• Ask yourself: Does the word “cot” exist? Yes, it does.</o:p>
• Is the picture next to the word a cot? No, it is a cat. Say “cat”.</o:p>
• Is “o” the missing vowel of another work on the card? Yes, it is the missing vowel in "pot." Fill in the “o” with a whiteboard marker.</o:p>
3. Continue until all the words on the word card are filled in.</o:p>

You can also use the Spin & Spell set to play with others, e.g., point 2.3 falls away, and you only fill in a vowel if it is the one that fits the first empty space on your card.</o:p>

Playing Spin & Spell develops visual and auditory discrimination, fine motor skills, memory, matching, and language skills.</o:p>
