This balance scale is very flexible and can be used in more than one way. The hanging trays measure in a more conventional way, while the pins on the top work like a seesaw balance. This scale set also comes with 48 bear counters and 100 abacus beads. One can use the hanging weight trays to measure and compare the bear counters, the beads, and any other small weights. The pins on top have numbers beneath them on the lever and can be used with the beads. The base of the scale is a container in which the bears and the beads can be safely stored. Balance scales are effective tools to learn and explore numbers, weight and balance while developing observation skills, logical thinking and fine motor skills.
